Work · three moves

Work is good when you are capable, you know what you are training for, and you are not carrying the whole room in your head.

01Snap the roomEvery photo waits until you say there is no person in it. Your own hand counts, so put things down rather than holding them up.
02Name what you seeOne per line. Nothing reads the photo for you — the photo is the evidence for each thing.
03See what it does togetherOne kettlebell is a squat, a swing, a carry and a press. Two belts on a rack are a pull-up bar. A rack you cannot get to is not really a rack.

Grow · and the good stuff

The dog in the sun. The plant on the shelf that has got away from you a bit. Whoever else uses the room, and the book they left face down. You do not control any of it — nothing here is waiting for you, nothing goes up because you showed up, and nothing goes down because you did not.

They are just there. And they are most of why the room is worth walking into.

None of it scores anything. It is your room, a room with less in it is not a worse room, and the room getting clearer is the only readout there is.

Under the picture

It is a drawing of a real room, and every part of it came from somewhere. Nothing here is decorative.

16 × 20 ft, 8 ft to the joistsMeasured with a tape. No photograph can answer either, and the ceiling is what decides whether you can press overhead.
